A Sum-Difference Microring Filter for Lossless Bandwidth Tuning

Abstract

We propose a general variable-bandwidth filter for lossless tuning based on the sum-difference microring filter architecture. We demonstrate a 4th-order filter in SOI, achieving 5 folds increase in bandwidth without extra insertion loss or degradation in filter shape.
