Abstract

We propose a PANDA-type elliptical-core multi-mode fiber featuring an elliptical core and two symmetrical circular stress-applying parts. With proper fiber geometric dimension and doping concentration, the designed fiber is able to support 24 fully lifted eigenmodes with minimum effective index difference between adjacent modes larger than 1.30×10−4 over the whole C+L band.
