Automated Calibration of Balanced Control to Optimize Performance of Silicon Photonic Switch Fabrics

Abstract

Highly-efficient, fabric-wide calibration of balanced control for optical switch fabrics without built-in power-detectors is first realized with fully-automated implementation. This technique co-optimizes thermo-optic and electro-optic phase elements, correcting phase-error and power-imbalance simultaneously for optimized performance.
