Exploiting Time-Synchronized Operations in Software-defined Elastic Optical Networks

Abstract

We propose and discuss NETCONF / OpenFlow implementations of time-synchronized operations, recently standardized in SDN, to minimize disruption time during lightpath reassignment in Elastic Optical Networks. 75% disruption time reduction is reported in our test scenario.
