Abstract

A on-chip reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer for mode-division-multiplexing (MDM) and wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) simultaneously is proposed and demonstrated for the first time. It integrates a mode demultiplexer, four tunable microring resonator switches, and a mode multiplexer.
