Bi-directional 25G/50G TDM-PON with Extended Power Budget using 25G APD and Coherent Amplification

Abstract

We demonstrate 50G duobinary PON transmission using a commercial 25G APD-based receiver. To extend the power budget we used simplified coherent amplification achieving -35 dBm sensitivity at 25G, enabling 40 dB optical power budget.
