First Demonstration of Symmetric 100G-PON in O-band with 10G-Class Optical Devices Enabled by Dispersion-Supported Equalization

Abstract

We demonstrate the first symmetric 100G-PON based on 10Gbps optical devices supporting 0-20 km reach in O-band. Dispersion-supported equalization enables 25.78-Gb/s NRZ-OOK modulation/detection based on DMLs/APDs with a combined 3-dB bandwidth of 5 GHz.
