Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier with Passive Temperature Compensation

Abstract

A commercially viable technique for passive temperature compensation in EDFAs based on a MZ interferometer with a variable splitting ratio is developed and described. It allows system engineers to simultaneously achieve better gain flatness, small size, low power consumption and heat production.
