Reconfiguration Triggering Optimization in TWDM PONs with Fluctuating Load

Abstract

Reconfiguring TWDM PONs, based on network load, trades OLT energy efficiency improvement with potential average frame delay increase. This paper proves, both through simulations and experiments, that an optimum time exists for triggering reconfiguration that minimizes average frame delay penalty.
