Data-rate figure of merit for physical layer in fixed-grid reconfigurable optical networks

Abstract

We propose a Monte-Carlo method to establish the merit of physical layer in transparent optical networks as average bit-rate per lightpath at full load and consider two transmission techniques and impact of nonlinear fiber propagation.
