Differential modal gain reduction of L-band 5-spatial mode EDFA with depressed core structure

Abstract

We experimentally investigate an L-band 5-spatial-mode EDFA. A low differential modal gain of less than 3 dB and flat gain properties are achieved in the 1570–1600 nm range by optimizing a depressed core structure.
