Probabilistic Design of Nonlinear Optical Transmission Systems

Abstract

We apply probabilistic design to optical transmission systems, exploiting the nonlinearity present to minimize transmitted variation. We quantify through theory and experimental verification the benefits afforded by taking uncertainty into account at the design stage.
