56-Gbit/s 4-D PAM-4 TCM Transmission Evaluation for 400-G Data Center Applications

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate 56-Gbit/s 4-D PAM-4 TCM transmission over 40 km SMF without optical amplifiers. Results show that TCM PAM-4 outperforms the uncoded PAM-4 by more than 2.5 dB at a BER equal to 10−6.
