Volume Manufacturing of Hollow Core Photonic Band Gap Fibers: Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract

A fluid dynamics model is used to investigate yield increase in hollow-core bandgap fibers. 100km of good fiber from one preform seems feasible; for higher yields some observed distortions would need to be addressed.
