Abstract

We propose a wavelength swept discovery process for λ-tunable WDM/TDM-PON systems. The characteristic of this proposed discovery method is the colorless operation which must be supported in NG-PON2. We first demonstrate the proposed discovery process on a λ-tunable WDM/TDM-PON prototype and confirmed its effect. This result realizes the attractive functions of the λ-tunable WDM/TDM-PON system with OLT power saving, pay-as-you-grow deployment, and PON protection.
