Nonlinearity-Tolerant Frequency Domain Root M-shaped Pulse for Spectrally Efficient Coherent Transmissions

Abstract

A frequency domain M-shaped pulse with roll-off factors less than 1 is proposed and experimentally demonstrated to achieve a better nonlinearity tolerance than the RRC pulse for both PDM-QPSK and PDM-16QAM transmission systems.
