16-ary Stokes-vector Modulation Enabling DSP-based Direct Detection at 100 Gbit/s

Abstract

Multi-level optical signals designed in the three-dimensional Stokes space can be demodulated by a direct-detection receiver using low-complexity DSP. Simulation results demonstrate that the 16-ary signal can achieve the bit rate of 100 Gbit/s.
