The Evolution of 850nm VCSELs from 10Gb/s to 25 and 56Gb/s

Abstract

VCSELs are now being commercially deployed in applications up to 28Gb/s. This paper will present a review of current VCSEL and PD capabilities and explore the technology development required to extend operation to even higher data rates.
