Identification of high-PMD sections along installed optical cables with long range OFDR

Abstract

We describe a recent development of phase-noise-compensated-OFDR (PNC-OFDR) to identify high birefringence sections of fiber cables. Its unprecedented fine spatial resolution over several tens km range enables us to observe short beat length.
