Demonstration of Flexible Optical Buffer based on 1×32 Optical Switches and Fiber-Sheet Delay Lines

Abstract

We first demonstrated a 31-fiber-delay-lines buffer using flexible and compact fiber sheets combined with cascaded PLZT switches. Error-free operation of all packets, given delays up to 3-μs at intervals of 100-ns, was achieved after buffering.
