Light Source Independent Linewidth Reduction of Lasers

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate linewidth reduction of a commercially available DFB laser from 7.5MHz to 1.8KHz using an electro-optical feed-forward scheme. The proposed scheme performs linewidth reduction independent of the light source and is compatible with the light source tunibility. Continuous linewidth reduction over 40nm tuning range is measured without any electrical or optical adjustments.
