Over 4,200km WDM Transmission of 80-Gb/s PDM- OFDM-16QAM Signals with 12.5-GHz Channel Spacing Employing EDFA only Amplification

Abstract

We demonstrate transmission of 8×80-Gb/s PDM-OFDM-16QAM signals at a channel spacing of 12.5GHz over 4,242km with EDFA only amplification. It achieves the longest transmission distance at the SE >5 b/s/Hz to date.
