Hierarchical Multi-granular Switching in Flexible Grid WDM Networks

Abstract

We propose a hierarchical multi-granular switch architecture in FWDM networks, and investigate the routing, spectrum allocation, and waveband assignment problem. Hierarchical switching can improve cost and energy efficiencies while marginally sacrificing spectral efficiency.
