Integrated Fourier Domain Mode-locked Lasers: Analysis of a Novel Coherent WDM Comb Laser

Abstract

Fourier-domain mode-locking of integrated laser diodes is studied theoretically for the application of WDM mode comb generation. Flat (<7 dB) combs with 40 modes spaced at 25 GHz and RIN values of below 0.3% can be generated with practically feasible designs. Such lasers enable future Terabit/s interconnects.
