Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate 40-to-320-Gbit/s phase-coherent WDM-to-TDM multiplexing based on cross-phase modulation (XPM) and subsequent 320-to-40-Gbit/s demultiplexing using XPM-induced frequency shift in highly nonlinear fibers. An average penalty of approximately 7 dB at 10−9 BER is observed after the nonlinear processes.
