First Experimental Evidence of a Novel Multimode Pumping Scheme for an Array of Rare earth Doped Waveguide Amplifiers and Lasers

Abstract

We propose a novel multimode pumping scheme for waveguide amplifier and laser arrays. Light from a broad area laser at 980 nm is coupled into a large passive waveguide and then effectively transferred to the active cores.
