Novel Concepts for High Speed VCSELs

Abstract

The use of quantum dots allows for the temperature insensitive operation of VCSELs at 20 Gb/s at temperatures up to 150C. The electo-optic VCSEL modulation enables pulsed light emission with rise and fall times of less than15 ps.
