A Remotely Reconfigurable PON Architecture for Efficient Maintenance and Protection

Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a PON architecture that can be remotely reconfigurable for monitoring and protection from fiber failure/degradation. Protection for fiber failures and OTDR test for preventive maintenance can be done without service disruptions.
