40 Gb/s Wavelength Preserving 2R Regeneration for both RZ and NRZ Signals

Abstract

We demonstrate 40Gb/s all-optical wavelength preserving 2R-regeneration transparent to both NRZ and RZ modulation formats. The scheme, based on cross-gain-compression in an SOA, is polarization-independent and suitable, in principle, for ultra-high speed bit-rate.
