DQPSK modulation for robust optical transmission

Abstract

The feasibility of long-haul transmission using differential quadrature phase shift keying (DQPSK) modulation is discussed. We focus in particular on the trade-off between spectral efficiency and reach in optical transmission systems using DQPSK modulation.
