Wavelength Meter Based on a Birefringent Medium and a Polarimeter

Abstract

A simple technique to measure the frequency drift of monochromatic optical sources based on the polarization change caused by a birefringent material is demonstrated. Preliminary experimental results show a resolution of 0.8 pm.
