Abstract

A simultaneous measurement technique of the dispersion parameter and the length of an optical fiber has been demonstrated by using a self-seeding laser oscillation of a Fabry-Perot laser and a direct lasing mode detection technique. The measurement errors were less than 0.14 % for the length and 1.7 % for the dispersion parameter.
