Fabrication of helicoidal long-period fiber gratings by twisting a standard single mode fiber

Abstract

We report a new method of fabrication of helicoidal long-period fiber gratings by twisting a single mode fiber with CO2 laser beam. The transmission characteristics of helicoidal long-period fiber gratings were experimentally demonstrated.
