A simple analytical model for PMD temporal evolution

Abstract

We introduce a simple two-parameter analytical model for the time dynamics of Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) and PMD-induced penalty based on the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process, and demonstrate that it provides good agreement between theory, simulations and experimental results.
