Abstract

We experimentally investigate the symmetry for optical signals with orthogonal polarizations. The degree-of-polarization symmetry remains intact for the orthogonal polarizations under first/higher-order PMD, whereas the symmetry of eye-closure penalty is broken under higher-order PMD.
