Nonlinear Optical Fibers with Increased SBS Thresholds

Abstract

Novel profile designs are used to suppress stimulated Brillouin scattering in nonlinear fibers. The measured SBS thresholds of prototype fibers are 3 to 6 dB higher than those of conventional nonlinear fibers.
