Optimizing System Performance of Free-Space Optical MIMO Links with APD Receivers

Abstract

Free-space optical MIMO communication systems are considerably improved by proper selection of key parameters. We use an SNR criterion to optimize APD gain and optical energy per bit for a given error probability in PPM transmission.
