Reconfigurable all-optical logic gate based on a single SOA with improved dynamics

Abstract

A simple, compact, ultra-fast, reconfigurable photonic logic gate is demonstrated exploiting Four-Wave-Mixing and Cross-Gain-Modulation in a single Semiconductor-Optical-Amplifier with improved dynamics. Bit-Error-Rate measurements are reported for XNOR, AND, NOR, and NOT logic functions.
