Abstract

This paper reports results of the first field-deployed “hut-skipping” line architecture using hybrid Raman-Erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) and SSMF. Total transmission distance reached 640 km at 40 Gb/s with deployable lifetime margin using MCI’s metro fiber ring.
