Abstract
The impact of phase errors caused by imperfect return-to-zero (RZ) pulse carving on optical differential quadrature phase-shift keying (DQPSK) is analyzed. The two-symbol-delayed interferometric demodulation is proposed as an effective means to mitigate this degradation.
