Abstract

We demonstrate a novel apodization method for channel-waveguide Bragg gratings. Photolithographically-enabled control of reflective amplitude and phase of individual grating-constituent elements yields devices providing steep-roll-off, flat-top filtering, high (Fourier-transform-limited) resolution, and multi-passband spectral decoding.
