Enhancement of spectral polarimetry for PMD measurement using transmitted signal spectra

Abstract

By controlling the launch polarization into a calibrated, fixed DGD element followed by a spectral polarimeter, we enhance the spectral polarimeter’s ability to measure fiber DGD from signal spectra, thus enabling improved noninstrusive PMD monitoring.
