Abstract
Fiber Bragg gratings with phase-only superstructure (‘sampling’) are shown to enable the fabrication of large channel counts with adequate reflectivity. Grating fabrication is facilitated by the standard side-writing technique, where the entire sampling pattern is included in a precise, lithographically prepared phase mask.
