Resonances and Modal Cutoff in Microstructured Optical Waveguides

Abstract

We show that the spectral properties of micro-structured fibers and waveguides are determined by the geometry of high-index inclusions and can be predicted from the cutoff condition for the highest order mode of the high index inclusion.
