Abstract

We demonstrate a novel all-optical wavelength converter based on a pulse reformatting optical filter. A realization within a MEMS switch allows simultaneous 40 Gb/s wavelength conversion, switching and format conversion. The device outperforms current schemes with respect to input-power requirements, input-power dynamic range and signal quality.
