Applying optical transparency to a heterogeneous pan-European network

Abstract

Applying an innovative experimental tool to a continental scale network, we demonstrate that up to 99.7% of the connections of a hybrid heterogeneous network may be established transparently at 10Gbit/s with the simplest physical design.
