Abstract
The dependence of the threshold pump power on wavelength is investigated for a multi-wavelength array of photonic crystal lasers. We also characterize the temperature dependence of these lasers. With the potential to be densely integrated, photonic crystal devices have been intensely investigated in recent years. This work has focused on devices such as lasers [1], waveguides [2], modulators, etc. In this study we investigate photonic crystal lasers and utilize the ability to lithographically tune the photonic crystal laser cavity resonant frequency to investigate the dependence of the threshold pump power on the alignment between the gain peak and the cavity resonance. We also investigate the effects of operating temperature on the operating wavelength and the threshold pump power.
