Theoretical Model of Instability-Free Operation for Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier with a Combined Gain Control System

Abstract

We demonstrate a new theoretical model of Er3+-doped fiber amplifier under an electronic feed-forward combined with an external optical feedback control. Based on linear stability analysis we find analytically criterion for auto-oscillations-free operation, which was confirmed experimentally.
