Abstract

A 0.5Vpp-drive small-chirp 40Gbit/s electroab-sorption modulator module with hybrid-integrated driver IC is proposed. This module can be directly driven by the 40Gbit/s multiplexer output. Power penalty of less than 0.5dB over 2km transmission is demonstrated.
