Optical Power Monitoring Function Compatible with Single Chip Integration on Silicon-on-Insulator

Abstract

A novel monolithic p-i-n waveguide photodiode technology based on implantation into the silicon-on-insulator materials system is outlined. This technology enables multi-channel average power monitoring to be integrated on a single chip together with multiplexer and attenuator functions.
